A Private Detective is an officer of the law. A Private Investigator does not hold the same powers as an officer. Our PIs do, however, work closely with Private Detectives to help them solve cases.

Yes, we use the proper techniques to take photo and video evidence that abides by all the provincial laws. What a PI cannot do is trespass on personal property to take a video of someone inside their private residence.

Intercepting a conversation through wiretapping is prohibited by law in Ontario without the consent of the person whose conversation is being recorded. What is allowed is for Canadians to record their own conversations with the use of their own phone under the “one party consent” exception.
