Shadow Security (Nova Scotia): Reviews
Negative experience: Constantly kick people out of events for not following "smoking rules" at an outdoor concert with NO SIGNS stating where we can and cannot and where we cannot smoke. Sent police after us who laughed at the security guards ridiculous actions. The police also apologized, agreed there should be signs, but they were there on behalf of the event so there wasn't anything they could do. Btw, you are NOT COPS. You should not for any reason allow your guards to carry around zip ties as a threat to restrain attendants. There are actual cops with hand cuffs around
Negative experience: One of worst company to work there no break no safety in bad weather conditions doesn’t matter it raining or fire no safety for guard. No recommend this company to anyone if there any option for 0 Zero start I would to give that zero to them.
Negative experience: I am disgusted and repulsed by this security company. I’m looking for a resolution from any managers. The security officer by the name of “mickey” is a disrespectful human.
Negative experience: Staff was very unprofessional. Confiscated a personal item with no explanation
Negative experience: Unpleasant Experience with Security Employee at Future Forest Winter Event I recently attended the Future Forest Winter event at the Marquee Ballroom on January 20th, where I encountered a security employee whose behavior was disappointing. The worker in question, a female with shoulder-length dreadlocks, was disrespectful and displayed inappropriate attitude, undermining the company's commitment to professionalism. Despite the company's emphasis on professionalism, this particular employee seemed untrained and lacking in workplace ethics. Interactions with her felt demeaning and disrespectful, with a notable absence of the expected level of professionalism. Furthermore, the employee's conduct escalated to threatening and rude behavior. When discussing personal concerns with another on-site employee, she fabricated warnings to discredit my statements. Additionally, she made a concerning threat, suggesting physical harm with the phrase 'come outside with me.' This behavior not only compromised my sense of safety but also marred the overall experience of the event. While other security personnel demonstrated professionalism, great attitudes, and evident training, the negative impact of this one employee overshadowed the positive aspects. As a consumer, it is disheartening to witness such a stark contrast in the quality of service within a single company. In conclusion, my experience was significantly tarnished by the actions of this particular employee, and it raises concerns about the company's hiring and training practices. It is my hope that future events will not be marred by similar incidents, and the company takes appropriate measures to address and rectify such situations.
Negative experience: Unacceptable behavior
Negative experience: Disrespectful guards
Fantastic experience: Shadow has been the best event security company in Atlantic Canada for years.
Negative experience: Worst management and company I have ever seen
Negative experience: Not safe
Negative experience: Very rude and disrespectful
Negative experience: Worst..
Negative experience: I worked for these guys. Find another company to work for or hire for events. They hire anyone who moves and don’t provide any further training aside from the basics of ID checking. Their staff is extremely unprofessional and unqualified besides a few who only work “the big and important events”. At the NSLC I’ve seen them on their phones and when they work events they have people working who should not be working events as they don’t know how to handle situations. From a employee standpoint the operations staff don’t communicate with you and it’s impossible to schedule time off for doctors appointments and forget calling off if you’re sick, it won’t happen. They brag about “being able to choose your schedule” when they hire you, it’s a lie, half the time you don’t get what you apply for due to “seniority” and even if you do it’s not nearly enough for even part time hours. The higher ups aren’t progressive either, stuck in old ways and not interested in progressing the way things are done. Pay is also AWFUL having qualifications will get you a wonderful minimum wage or maybe a few cents above if they’re feeling generous. You could earn more working at McDonalds. In short. Don’t hire or apply here. It’s not enjoyable or rewarding.
Negative experience: very unprofessional staff, especially the guy who treated so bad that poor girl on entrance last night in my aspect you can’t touch or push anyone without their permission so it’s totally a harassment
Negative experience: Went to an establishment with shadow security. The communication between most the security personnel was really lacking and their tolerance towards nightlife patrons was taken from a personal emotional perspective and not from a safety standpoint. If you would like more information to look into this incident you can reply to this review.
Negative experience: Verbal abuse at first contact. Good to know such a company employs people who like to yell at strangers and fosters such abusive behaviours.
Negative experience: Very bad company please do not apply here
Negative experience: One of the security guards working at the Scotiabank Centre for the thunderbirds game on February 16 was extremely unprofessional. He just assumed I was unlawfully trying to consume alcohol (I am 18 years old) and told me he was going to keep an eye on me to make sure I wasn’t drinking. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE THESE ASSUMPTIONS WITH NO CONCRETE EVIDENCE! His power tripping nonsense was very unnecessary. He just assumed my friend was illegally buying beer for me. I did not pay 30 dollars to be scrutinized by some security guy who thinks he’s a cop
Fantastic experience: I have hired and have worked closely with Shadow Security for many years. They are very accomodating to their clients needs. I have attended their training sessions as well as have worked with amazing knowledgeable staff all over NS and NB.
Negative experience: They just came to CBU(sydney) yesterday and staff was horrible specially the male ones. One of the guard is drunk and abusing. Worst staff ever seen.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional
Fantastic experience: Great staff
Negative experience: worked for this place. the owner is great, but operations staff are horrible. there was no training at all and they constantly ripped me off between not paying for work completed and having shifts not be paid out when they were supposed to be. they pay almost everyone min wage and expect you to stand in the same location for hours on end without any kind of break.. they wont even let you go to the bathroom. if they treat their employees like this, imagine how they'll treat you.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional
Fantastic experience: Have hired them for many of my shows in Halifax and they get the job done right every time. Very professional and knowledgeable when it's come to keeping us safe on stage. We will hire them again in a heart beat :)
